The 2008 Gavi di Gavi from Bricco is absolutely gorgeous, very light straw colour, the aromatics are subtle, Napoli lemon, peach and apricot are all there, with touches of pineapple, pear and mineral. There’s even the signs of telltale nettle leaf already developing, the signature of great Gavi, which is as rare as the proverbial rocking horse droppings…if you’ve never had Gavi di Gavi before, buy this; if you have and weren’t impressed; Buy this and you will understand what its all about. If you are a fan of Gavi di Gavi ; Buy this by the truck load. I thought the 2006 vintage, (the first ever from this producer) was a great wine, but it pales into insignificance against this 2008.
