Deep, dark ruby in tone, solid and saturated to the rim, it is expansive with penetrating aromas of cassis, blackberries, graphite, tar, and minerals. Ample on the palate, tasty, and elegant in flavour, this medium-bodied effort offers a superior force and continuity across the palate. In addition, its sweet fruit, minerals, and ripe, fleshy tannins promise years of life to come. It is accessible now, but will be even better from 2006 to 2020. This wine shows impeccable winemaking from Filippo Rocchi and Luca D’Attoma

Deep ruby with purple tones, very similar to the 2004 vintage, we skipped the 2005 in preference to this, well balanced, with ripe cherries, plum and tobacco leaf, medium bodied and ripe tannins on the finish. Easy good quality drinking representing top value.

The 2005 Madonna delle Grazie Brunello again displays awesome potential, made in the traditional Biodynamic style, but with clearly very modern approach in the vineyards, floral spring blossom, ripe black cherries, liquorice, leather and minerals all come together in this excellent wine. On the palate the glorious fruit and truffle notes carries all the way through to the long finish, I suggest this will continue to improve for another five or more years and drink wonderfully well for a further decade. This is a real gem of a wine, and whilst very polished already, some further bottle age will enable it to catch all the light and reflections of a class 1A diamond.

This fun and intriguing sparkling Cabernet has a black fruit-scented nose. In the mouth, the wine reveals tiny pinpoint bubbles, very good effervescence, dry, rich flavours, and a bold, striking personality. It's not for everybody, and I must admit drinking ruby-colored sparkling wines takes some getting used to, but this example is more interesting and on tasting for the second time, I decided to try it on the market.

People looking for fun wines to drink and savour should consider this, light salmon coloured, with assertive toasty, smoky aromas carrying through on the palate, where the mature flavours of bread dough, kir and baked apples are firm and long. Clean and well focused.

A terrific value for people seeking a medium sweet white sparkler with a huge perfume, the Tenuta Santa Anna Moscato offers up scents of honeyed orange marmalade along with fruit cocktail-like flavours. Medium-bodied, with copious floral characteristics as well as crisp acidity, it requires consumption during its first 1-2 years of life.

For me, this is one of the stand out wines of the Torre Rosazza range, pale yellow, this offer lovely aromas and flavours of peach, pear, pineapple and acacia honey, medium bodied with lovely acidity and good texture ending with touches of fennel on the long finish. Complex but so enjoyable simply to drink on its own.

The 2006 Ribolla Gialla is a notch above the usual shrilly acidic wines of this variety, lightly golden in colour, floral, honeyed, wafting, and subtle, but expressive and elegant as well, ample and long on the palate with light tropical notes to balance the citric fruit and a long, vibrant finish. It will easily last another two or three years.

Slightly grassy notes to the orange blossom aromas, flavours of citrus dominate with touches of apple, pear, rich honey coated hazelnut, mineral and vanilla, this wine clearly demontrates what is possible with good vintage conditions in Northern Italy from a top producer.

The Giusto di Notri is deep ruby colour, with fabulous aromatics, violets, white flowers, ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit that would fill a room. When it hits the mouth, the high notes continue followed on by mineral and fresh herb, then the base tones start, asphalt, coffee and liquorices, this wine delivers a superb palate presence, wonderful acidity, beautifully balanced and a long, long finish which is totally absorbing. This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, with touches of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot with supreme balance and super elegance and the grace of a ballerina tiptoeing across your tongue. My impression is that this may be ready to drink immediately following its release but will continue to improve for several years and drink well for a couple of decades. Tasted June 2009. 95+ points
