A real sweetheart of a wine, the 2006 Gres St Paul Gipsy Rose exhibits a light salmon/pink colour in addition to a big, sweet, almost candied, raspberry, strawberry, and kirsch-scented bouquet. Medium-bodied, sweet ripe fruit on the attack, this is dry, and tasty, with fine intensity and flavour as well as a long mineral finish, it will provide pleasure over the next 24-36 months through 2010.

While this will not be a long-lived Muscat, for drinking over the next 2-3 years it is a splendidly perfumed, medium-bodied dry wine that is meant to be drunk before the meal or with Asian foods, it is not heavy despite copious quantities of ripe fruit, both the aromatics and flavours are of honeysuckle, spring mountain flowers and mineral notes. This really is a delicious, super-perfumed style of Muscat!

A pleasant wine, very fresh, with flavours of lemon, melon, pear, and minerals backed by slightly higher acidity, this is an excellent value.

This Rose possesses surprising body, a fragrant personality of strawberries and cream, along with some crushed flowers, excellent depth of flavour and a crisp zingy finish.

This is probably the weakest wine in the range intense cherry-ruby red colour with notes of dried herbs intermixed with cherries, tasty flavours, this is an easy drinking wine of good value.

The 2004 Cuvée Prestige exhibits a terrific bouquet of spring flowers, honeysuckle, orange marmalade, peaches, and some lighter tropical fruits. Medium-bodied and filled with fruit yet structured, with good underlying acidity to provide freshness and focus.

The 2006 Ercavio Blanco is a super bargain, a delicious white offering flowers with a hint of tropical fruit on the nose, flavours of gooseberry, citrus and melon, all balanced by crisp acidity. The finish is surprisingly lengthy.

The Ecilx Pinot Grigio, is a well made basic wine, ideal for a quality restaurant house wine, served by the glass, correct and with reasonable levels of peach and cherry fruit and with good balance. Not really the most exciting wine in the world but for this price, there is not much choice for the varietal.

The 2007 Eclix Sangiovese is very tasty, offering plenty of character compared to most wines in its price range. Light to medium-bodied, there is excellent clarity in the glass, pretty strawberry and sweet black cherry fruit aromas, cherry fruit dominates the palate, with higher acidity and powdery tannins, very well made and it over delivers on price.

Another great value Italian wine from this producer, deep ruby colour, brambly berry fruit on the nose, this really delivers well, round and balanced it’s still a tad young, but my feeling is this will drink well for 2-3 years, I honestly have not found much wine of this quality at this price for more than a year.
