Deep ruby red, rich, very soft and smooth on the palate, this low acid dry wine, displays an intense black cherry profile, it’s a traditional Italian wine but with a very modern twist, like drinking pure fruit juice and its so easy to just slip down.

A pleasant wine, very fresh, with flavours of lemon, melon, pear, and minerals backed by slightly higher acidity, this is an excellent value.

This Rose possesses surprising body, a fragrant personality of strawberries and cream, along with some crushed flowers, excellent depth of flavour and a crisp zingy finish.

The 2005 Chardonnay wild Ferment seems to me to be the best Yalumba have made to date, the wine exhibits abundant notes of honeysuckle, white peaches, and apricots in its medium to full-bodied personality. With terrific freshness, purity, and length, offering fig, peach, lemon and nutmeg flavours, should drink well for 3-5 years. Tasted at the winery January 2007

From a vineyard planted on granite, a new winery with vines ranging from 15 to 60 years of age, this 2006 is fashioned from Spain’s indigenous Godello grape. A light straw colour with a greenish hue is followed by jumping aromatics of ripe peach, white currant and honeyed citrus, the wine has a deep body, concentrated persistence, and undeniable minerality combined with notes of lemon/lime, melon and honey, crisp acidity, and fine depth, ending with bitter cirtus notes. This distinctive, singularly dry, but fruit driven white can be enjoyed over the next couple of years.

This wine exhibits a deep ruby colour with purple nuances. It has super extract, richness and layers of fruit, cigar tobacco, road tar, dried herbs and firm but sweet tannins. This wine is full bodied, powerful, elegant and appears to be on a rapid evolution but should drink well for 10-15 years.

Deep purple in colour, sweet strawberry jam and rose petal scents, This displays extraordinary fruit concentration, complexity and intensity, it possesses plenty of grip, is both firm and muscular with superb purity, it will evolve effortlessly for a decade or more. At best between 2003-2015.

Unfortunately so many Gavi’s are nothing more than winemaking afterthoughts - sterile and totally innocuous. How much fun it is to find an attractive Gavi from the very first vintage of the wine by this producer and what a great vintage 2006 was too, made from 100% Cortese and completely vinified in stainless steel. This offering is a delicious, richly fruity with that telltale nettle leaf notes, a soft wine bursting with personality and soul. However it is not meant to age, so consume it over the next two years after production.

The 2006 Mas Donis a straightforward unoaked, gorgeously pure, ripe wine, smokey blackcurrant and kirsch-scented nose, a sweet, ripe, fleshy entry, abundant fruit with a touch of spice, glycerine, and extract, and a soft, low acid, ripe, uncomplicated but very juicy fleshy finish. This is a hedonistically styled, deliciously rich and fruit forward red wine which should be consumed over the next 2-5 years. I generally taste about 2,000 wines each year at this price point and buy perhaps one each year if lucky, this is a remarkable value from Spain!

The spectacular 2005 Cape Barren GSM, a blend of 50% Grenache with about 40% Syrah and the rest Mourvedre, is aged in 50% new oak barrels. Its huge black-cherry and black-raspberry-scented, exotic nose with hints of coffee, hickory, and cedar is marvellous. A wine of exceptional definition, layers of concentrated fruit, and a lusty, wonderfully rich, mouthfilling finish, it is one of the most extraordinary wine bargains in the market. There are only a few hundred cases available for the market, so move quickly if you want to secure any of this blockbuster value wine.
