PV Tasting Notes

The 2009 Fiaola is even better than the 2008, a fairly stark wine, but this has tons of elegance, sleek and very feminine, there’s also touch of animal about it too. Opens up with perfumed white peaches, a touch of mintiness, high floral and minerals all which flow from the glass. In the mouth the sense of mineral is almost overwhelming, then cured meat, bacon rind and apricot all presented in a ultra dry very fresh white. Perhaps its the blending of Fiano and Verdicchio but this comes across to me as a cross between a white Burgundy and a Muscadet. The estate is doing everything right and within a few years I’m certain they will be recognised on the world stage.

I think this will suit Grilled Yellow Fin Tuna, wild bass, or red snapper, try it with Swordfish and smoked bacon...oh...that will work. Actually any white meat or fish smoked or unsmoked with something like bacon or ham to add to the flavours and textures, delicious.

The Azienda Agricola Le Rose, managed by the family Piccarreta, was founded in 2003 by a committed and shared passion for the products of the earth. Thanks to a small estate on the sea front in the hills of the Castelli Romani and the guidance of Luca D'Attoma, we had the opportunity to implement the project to identify between the tradition, the geological past of our land and the quest for quality, of varieties that could enrich and renew the wines produced in the Castelli.

Dotted with Malvasia, well known in our area, we added fiano already present in the past, typical of volcanic and Trebbiano Verdicchio known here as the green, with the intent to achieve a wine with a delicate but rich, recognizable but not aggressive. Trying to get a result that was suitable to enhance even the fish of the coast of Lazio, Cooked as in few other regions of the country, but also the typical products of the Roman tradition and castles. These gorgeous wines are our results.

The vineyards of the Company are located between Genzano di Roma and Velletri.

The hilly terrain and deep, typically volcanic, is rich in potassium, magnesium and phosphorus. Well exposed to the south at an altitude of 350m above sea level, it faces the Pontine Islands, and therefore subject to strong winds and constant.

Six acres of land are cultivated plants in rows, consisting of 6,000 vines per hectare with a production of 1.3 kg to block, cover selection umbra Fiano, Fiano d'Avellino, Verdicchio and Malvasia pimpled.
