The 1998 McRae Wood is a fabulous wine, medium garnet colour with touches of red brick at the rim, boasting huge quantities of blackberry fruit infused with smoke, espresso, camphor and very subtle oak on the complex aromatics, very nicely concentrated and full bodied, arrived in the perfect drinking window, the tannins have integrated fully now leaving a lovely soft, velvety textured and sumptuous wine. Drink through 2018.
This wine shows what a truly great vintage 1998 was in South Australia.
Match this with the finest of foods, Duck Breast (Pink) as a special occasion, Veal Scaloppine, Roast Pigeon, Osso Buco, and of course Rare Roast Beef.
