PV Tasting Notes
The 2008 Le Rose La Faiola is a blend of 55% Verdicchio and 45% Fiano produced from a vineyard located the side of an extinct volcano an hour’s drive from Rome, it is somewhat esoteric, but offers great complexity for the money, flowers, minerals, almost cured meats, ash and earthiness all add to the pretty yellow peaches profile, very fresh, there’s good length and a unique personality to this wine, whilst its not as deeply complex as the Colli it is a gorgeously fresh and very tasty wine. Tasted Feb 2010.
Independent ReviewWhilst there are no independent reviews out on these wines yet as only just coming to the international markets. The Estate has been included in the Luca Maroni Guide of the top 500 estates of Italy in only its second ever vintage...they are certainly doing a lot of things right!
I think this will suit Grilled Yellow Fin Tuna, wild bass, or red snapper, try it with Swordfish and smoked bacon...oh...that will work. Actually any white meat or fish smoked or unsmoked with something like bacon or ham to add to the flavours and textures, delicious.
The Azienda Agricola Le Rose, managed by the family Piccarreta, was founded in 2003 by a committed and shared passion for the products of the earth. Thanks to a small estate on the sea front in the hills of the Castelli Romani and the guidance of Luca D'Attoma, we had the opportunity to implement the project to identify between the tradition, the geological past of our land and the quest for quality, of varieties that could enrich and renew the wines produced in the Castelli.
Dotted with Malvasia, well known in our area, we added fiano already present in the past, typical of volcanic and Trebbiano Verdicchio known here as the green, with the intent to achieve a wine with a delicate but rich, recognizable but not aggressive. Trying to get a result that was suitable to enhance even the fish of the coast of Lazio, Cooked as in few other regions of the country, but also the typical products of the Roman tradition and castles. These gorgeous wines are our results.
