PV Tasting Notes

I must admit to be constantly surprised by the Cover Drive, Peter Barry has been making astonishing wines of true value for many years, we have purchased every vintage of the Cover Drive and it never disappoints, each vintage although different from the previous, just keeps getting better and better. The 2008 is bright ruby, the nose is generous and gorgeous, black cherry, sarsaparilla root, fresh herbs and hints of French oak, the palate is complex, supremely balanced and very long with an almost vivacious finish. What a great wine for the money! Tasted July 2010

Independent Review

90 Points Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate Dec 2011
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2009 The Cover Drive Cabernet Sauvignon presents intense cassis and blackberries aromas with hints of pencil shavings, cloves and bay leaf. Medium-full bodied, it has a medium level of grainy tannins, lively acidity and mouth-filling, very pure berry flavors, finishing long. Drink it now through 2016.

This gorgeous Australian red is best served with T-bone steak, roast fore rib, well hung game (Venison, Hare, Rabbit) strong Cheese’s e.g. parmesan, Pasta dishes with strong or piquant sauces, alternatively truffle or porcini fungi sauce, beef stew’s, stroganoff, cassoulet, stuffed cabbage, Chilli, BBQs, or kebabs and will stand up to most curry.

Long regarded as an icon of Australian winemaking, Jim Barry passed away in October 2004. His family now continue the tradition of commitment to quality and flair established so long ago by the master winemaker. The winery has an exceptional resource base of 247 hectares of mature Clare Valley vineyards.
