The 2009 Lodge Hill continues to be a terrific wine, seriously difficult to beat for value, and this is another World Class effort. Aged 14 months in seasoned oak, the ruby/purple tinged colour exhibits minty blackberry characteristics intermixed with violet, white pepper, cedar, pencil lead, roast game and blueberry fruit. Full bodied and structured, with tons of sweet ripe fruit, excellent balance and a lengthy finish. Considering the price alone, this must rank in the World’s top 50 reds, from more than 900,000 produced in 2009. Tasted March 2011
91 Points Wine Spectator, May 2011 Polished, generous and distinctive for the savory, minty nuances around a plush core of raspberry and blackberry fruit. Finishes with focus and finesse. Drink now through 2019.
