PV Tasting Notes
Deep amber/mahogany in colour and full on Oloroso with aromas of spiced ginger, crystallised citrus fruit and fresh cashew nut, the unctuous texture is supported by the acidity, dry with just the bear edge of sweetness, this is a remarkable wine and whilst it is expensive, for its very great age and sheer enjoyment the price is not high for this unique wine.
97 points Robert parker’s Wine Advocate Feb 2008 The 1905 Oloroso is a darker amber/orange. It gives up aromas of ginger snaps, orange peel, dried citrus fruits, and spice box. It offers a bare touch of sweetness balanced by firm acidity but ultimately it is not as complex as the Amontillado.
Only if you really must, either to accompany sweet desserts or at tea time as traditional consumptions but also suitable with tasty meats and strong cheeses and at any time.
Perez Barquero have achieved three of the top eight ratings including the top two ever awarded for Sherry wines, as such their products are in the top echelon of wines of this type. This is one of them!
