PV Tasting Notes

From a vineyard planted on granite, a long established winery with vines ranging from 15 to 80 years of age, this 2006 is fashioned from Spain’s indigenous Godello grape. A light straw colour with a greenish hue is followed by jumping aromatics of ripe peach, white currant and honeyed citrus, the wine has a deep body, concentrated persistence, and undeniable minerality combined with notes of lemon/lime, melon and honey, crisp acidity, and fine depth, ending with bitter citrus notes. This distinctive, singularly dry, but fruit driven white can be enjoyed over the next decade.

Independent Review

90 points - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - 10/2007
Greenish gold. Musky melon and white peach aromas are brightened by lemon zest and dusty minerals. Deeply concentrated citrus and melon flavors are dry and sharply focused, picking up a bitter lime pith quality on the finish. This is irresistible.

Perfect accompaniment to any seafood or shellfish dish, will also suit Asparagus, Avocado, Cheese Fondue, Chowders, Dim Sum, Escargot, Fish terrine, Cured ham, Houmous, Roast Chicken, Quail, Turkey, Guinea Fowl, Chicken Live Pâté, various Salads and Salade Niçoise, Smoked Salmon and Trout.

Five selected plots, among the best of Valdeorras, at a combined south/southwestern orientation, with slightly sloped grounds, an approximately 15% inclination, vintage vines, and a unique microclimate crucial for an optimal ripening of the grape clusters. Handpicked in 15 kg-capacity crates, followed by a manual grape selection upon their arrival at the winery.
