PV Tasting Notes

This is reasonably successful given the poor vintage, although the rains and cool temperature of the autumn are clearly evident, requiring some further cellaring to develop the flavour profile, but the wine does offer some ripe fruit and tannins, slightly gamey flavours of black berries and leather. Patience is required, but my impression is this will develop into a very nice wine.

Perfectly suitable with red meat, game and seasoned cheese, recommended with typical Tuscan dishes.

This wine, Grappa di Brunello and olive oil complete the range of product offered by “La Serena”. The success experienced by the small farm is a direct consequence of the attentive care that has been dedicated, most importantly to the vineyard and wine celler.
Since 1988, Andrea & Marcello started with the best of their quality wines named Montalcino. La Serena vineyards are almost 9 hectares on an optimal south-east exposition. The Average Altitude of the combined vineyards is 350 meters above sea level. Vine density is 5.000 plants per hectare. Cordone speronato is utilized as training system.

Soil Consistently, clay, calcareas with Galestro in several locations.
Vinification & Ageing: The harvest normally occurs during the first two weeks of October. The production is approximately 50 ql per hectare, because of the first selection made during august. Fermentation occurs at controlled temperature and after the wine -making process, there is a period of ageing of 2 years inside french oak casks (20 hl) and few Barriques , then a long bottle refinement.
