PV Tasting Notes
Pure class, youthful and vibrant, clearly focused with great line and length. The 2005 Contours Riesling is a medium to full-bodied, multi-dimensional, ripe, dry Riesling with exceptional precision, length, and complexity, a knock-out nose of petroleum, sweet sausage, citrus, and minerals. In the mouth, some of Riesling's tropical fruit characteristics are present, along with earthy, mineral notes. With tremendous purity, medium to full body, and a long, surprisingly intense finish, this powerful, dry Riesling is one of the finest Riesling I have tasted from Australia, This very reasonably priced wine competes with the best wines from Alsace and Germany. It should last for another 8-12 years, but I recommend enjoying it over the next 5-7 years. Tasted Oct 2010

Contours just gets better and better and this is one of the finest yet. Vitality, youthfulness and sheer drive on the finish will also make it one of the longest-lived. The palate is loaded with zesty complex lemon butter and preserved lemon fruit, layered with scintillating lingering minerality.

Pewsey Vale’s 2005 The Contours Riesling presents a wonderfully expressive nose of lime leaf, lemon curd, fresh hay, lanolin and dill seed. Dry and light-bodied, it has a great backbone of zingy acid that enlivens long into the citrusy finish. Approachable now, it should cellar to 2020.

Deftly balanced, dry, elegant and refined, with pineapple and beeswax flavors competing for attention on a taut frame. This has depth and an expressive finish, and it's just starting to develop its mature character. Drink now through 2020. 10 cases imported.

Light yellow. A heady bouquet evokes dried citrus fruits, pear, herbs and honeysuckle, plus a hint of smoky minerals. Dry, penetrating and spicy, with excellent clarity and lift to its lemon, orange and anise flavors. Shows a hint of kerosene on the long, sappy finish. This still seems quite young.
Perfect accompaniment to Antipasto, Artichoke, Asparagus, Avocado, Cheese Fondue, Chowders, Dim Sum, Escargot, Fish terrine, Cured ham, Houmous, Chicken Live Paté, various Salads and Salad Nicoise, and especially Smoked Salmon and Trout.
