PV Tasting Notes
Deep ruby with brick red edges, with some spice cake, coffee, garrigue herbs and black fruit up front on the nose, easy and soft on the palate with a gentle attack, with some sandalwood and black tea currently the syrah is dominating the Grenache fruit but this is a superb value wine and very easy drinking, there’s some dried currant lingering on the finish.
Served at 18°C, it is perfect with red meat or soft cheeses. It is especially recommended with a "Pièce de bœuf grillée et son beurre d'anchois du Grau du Roi"(grilled beef with anchovies butter).
A superb little estate and renowned producers of world class wines that sell for a song. Since 1988, Château de l'Amarine belongs to the Dalle Family, who are already the owners of Château de Campuget. It is situated in Bellegarde, half -way between Nîmes and Arles and only a few kilometres from the right side of the Rhône river. The 30 hectares vineyard is situated on one of the best areas of the A.O.C. Costières de Nîmes. This wine is produced in the traditional way, using stainless-steel tanks with temperature controlled at between 28 and 32°C with a long maceration. The two varieties are harvested and fermented at the same time, in the same vat. The wine is kept for 12 months in barrels. A third of the production is placed in new barrels, another third in one-year old barrels and the last third in two-year old barrels.
