PV Tasting Notes
Clean and nice on the nose, with a aromas of Melon and white pepper. The palate is round and not overly acidic, making it friendly and endowed with mass appeal. Flavours of green melon and semi dried pineapple with touches of citrus are smooth and not too demanding, while the finish is easy and clean, very flavourful but it needs to be drunk up during 2013. Tasted March 2013
The 2006 Emina Verdejo was produced from old ungrafted vines ranging in age from 60 to 80 years. It was fermented only with native yeasts and aged sur lie with batonnage for 6 months in 100% French Oak. It is richer and more concentrated than most Verdejo wines, green melon, orange rind, pineapple and citrus fruits show while displaying outstanding depth, concentration, balance, and a quirky fennel note on the finish. Personally I don’t think Verdejo gets much better than this, particularly at this price range. Tasted April 2008
Made at one of the "Worlds Top 100 Wineries"
A truly classic wine, would suit all manner of light Tapas dishes, Escabeche of Sardines, Battered Squid, Basque squid stew, Hake with hop paprika dressing, Catalan Fish Stew, Paella, tortilla, Andalusian Pork, white bean and chorizo soup or even roast Spanish style chicken.
Bodegas Emina is an exciting new development of the Matarromera Group, reviewed in 2006 as one of the top 100 wineries of the world. The newly built winery, is truly “state of the art”, in fact, during all my travels around the world, never have I seen such superb wine making facilities. Their policy is to make wines of a world class standard, as commitment to this policy, they did not make any wine in 2004, they felt the base product was not up to their demanding standards. The company is leading the way forward in many aspects of wine production, not only in wine production, but also in cosmetics, produced from the left over material, skins, seeds etc. Through a massive research programme they have developed new polyphenols which act on skin with some 30% more anti-oxidant power that deter cells from aging. They now also produce for both men and women, a range of products including moisturising creams, exfoliants and aftershave, all from grape extract!
