PV Tasting Notes

Made from the strictest selections of fruit, only 132 cases were made for the vintage, displaying a dense ruby/purple colour with aromas of warm plums, Mulberries, spice cake and hints of dark chocolate, game and pain grille all melding together. This has a medium level of intensity on the palate, with fine grained tannins, concentrated structure on the long finish with just enough acid to balance, finishes long and juicy. Tasted Sept 2006

Independent Review

90 points - James Halliday
Clear-cut, no compromise, varietal character with green olive, spice, earth and bitter chocolate; fine tannins, quality French oak and a long textured finish.

This lovely Merlot is perfect for Fillet of Beef Marchand de Vin (with wine and bone marrow) Roast Fillet of Beef but avoiding Beef Wellington, pasty dulls the palate. Roast lamb and Venison. However this is quite simply a joy to drink without any food accompaniments.

Pride, Passion and Purpose is the motto of Woodside Valley Estate, the winery has this year been upgraded from a 4 star rating to the top rating of 5 Stars, signifying top notch quality across the range of wines. An almost draconian sorting and selection of fruit, coupled with 100% quality French Oak, The result is the Baudin Collection and clearly reflects the craftsmanship, attention to details and meticulous care taken in the production of these exceptional wines, which are the truest expression of the character and quality of Northern Margaret River fruit. Woodside Valley Estate is truly an ultra premium boutique producer with a total annual production of between 1000 and 1500 cases, distributed around Australia and internationally.
