Tenuta Santa Anna | Cabernet | Spumante Demi Sec | (Red Sparkling)

August Clearance Sale

rating: 85 vintage year: 0 grape type:

100% Cabernet Sauvignon

This fun and intriguing sparkling Cabernet has a black fruit-scented nose. In the mouth, the wine reveals tiny pinpoint bubbles, very good effervescence, dry, rich flavours, and a bold, striking personality. It's not for everybody, and I must admit drinking ruby-colored sparkling wines takes some getting used to, but this example is more interesting and on tasting for the second time, I decided to try it on the market.

Torre Rosazza | Pinot Grigio

5% Discount on full cases

rating: 88 vintage year: 2006 grape type:

100% Pinot Grigio

For me, this is one of the stand out wines of the Torre Rosazza range, pale yellow, this offer lovely aromas and flavours of peach, pear, pineapple and acacia honey, medium bodied with lovely acidity and good texture ending with touches of fennel on the long finish. Complex but so enjoyable simply to drink on its own.

Torre Rosazza | Ribolla Gialla

5% Discount on full cases

rating: 90 vintage year: 2006 grape type:

100% Ribolla Gialla

The 2006 Ribolla Gialla is a notch above the usual shrilly acidic wines of this variety, lightly golden in colour, floral, honeyed, wafting, and subtle, but expressive and elegant as well, ample and long on the palate with light tropical notes to balance the citric fruit and a long, vibrant finish. It will easily last another two or three years.

Pazo de Senorans | Albarino | Rias Baixas

5% Discount on full cases

rating: 92 vintage year: 2006 grape type:

100% Albarino

The steely Albariño from Pazo de Señorans this year exhibits a straw/green colour as well as superb linear purity, so tight for the present but loads of texture, with coxing it reveals a massive slate/mineral aspect, Napoli Lemon, pear, apricot and a spicy, honeyed, rich, super elegant bone dry style. My knowledge and history of these wines suggests that it will develop beautifully over the next six months and drink well through 2010. Having produced five of the Worlds six top rated Albariño wines over the period 2000-2005 inclusive, this new vintage is a further testament to the artisan efforts of this wonderful estate. If you want to drink this gorgeous style of wine, why look anywhere else. Tasted 15th February 2007. This is the only producer where we have purchased consequative vintages, now seven, since setting up the company. Indepenently rated as the "Worlds Best" Albarino produced in 2006.

Yalumba, The Virgilius Viognier

August Clearance sale

rating: 90 vintage year: 2005 grape type:

100% Viognier

Medium straw colour. Rich, smoky aromas of peach, mirabelle and apricot. Fat and dense on the palate; in fact, almost thick, with creamy, exotic flavors of lichee, guava and mango, accented by refreshing mint. Really dramatic on the palate, but this finishes clean and brisk.

Clos du Marquis | Saint Julien |  Per Dozen OWC

Second wine of Chateau Leoville Las Cases

5% Discount on full cases

rating: 92 vintage year: 2006 grape type:

Full on ruby-red, with deep aromas of currant, liquorice, graphite and smoky oak on the nose. Very juicy, serious and insinuating, with sweet currant and mineral flavours framed by ripe acidity and firm tannic spine. Finishes with noteworthy persistence and purity. This received almost all of the estate's cabernet franc in 2006. This is not your typical second wine-on the contrary, it's a rather more Pauillac style of St. Julien that will likely require some years of cellaring.
